TFS partners with Liberty University School of Aeronautics

NEW BERN, N.C. – Tradewind Flight Services (TFS) is excited to announce their new partnership with Liberty University School of Aeronautics as an official training affiliate location.

This association represents TFS’s ongoing dedication to the growth and opportunities for all aspiring aviators in the Eastern North Carolina region. These students will now have the option to pursue an online bachelor’s degree through Liberty University while receiving flight training with TFS.

“Teaming up with Liberty University is a fantastic moment for both of our organizations and the students,” Tradewind’s CEO Dave Ricker said. “Offering our students more opportunities to develop themselves personally and professionally is fundamental to our vision for the flight training program.”

As a partner with Liberty University School of Aeronautics, TFS will instruct student pilots in flight training for private, instrument, commercial and multi-engine ratings. Instructor certification for flight, instrument and multi-engine ratings is also part of the curriculum available. College credit for these courses will be awarded through Liberty University as part of a four-year degree program that prepares the student for a career in aviation.

“Our goal is to develop young pilots who will be an instant value add to the aviation industry,” President Darryl Centanni said. “Being a certified pilot with a college degree ensures potential employers that the person they are hiring is a well-rounded individual.”

This Department of Veteran Affairs approved program is also open to high school students. Juniors and seniors who live in proximity to one of the flight training affiliates can now earn college credits while also earning their private pilot certificate through Liberty University Online Academy.

“Having the option to get a head start on a career is huge benefit for young people interested in a career in aviation,” Centanni said. “Being able to access all the resources that Liberty University brings to the table, combined with our flight school, is a powerful alliance.”

Tradewind Flight Services has served East North Carolina communities for the past 20 years by providing commercial flight training out of the Coastal Carolina Regional Airport. In that time, TFS has trained over 9,000 pilots while also providing disaster response and surveillance services to commercial and government agencies. Their management team has over 70 years of combined experience overseeing aviation duties and government contracts.
